Georgian Wine Week in Telavi Opened with Wine Festival
This is the third year of celebration Georgian Wine Day with Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia and National Wine Agency organization. The permanent partners of the activity are Georgian Wine Association, Georgian Sommelier Association, Kakheti Wine Guild, Wine Club and Wine Tourism Association.
Considering great interest of Georgian population and tourists towards the activity in the previous years, it was settled to organize Georgian Wine Week this year.
Many activities will be organized in the regions within the framework of Georgian Wine Week September 22 to October 2. There will be exhibition and degustation of wine, presentations, wine tours, film show. Wine festivals will be held in Telavi, Marneuli and Adjara. Wine competition will be organized and the winner will receive Georgian wine order at the durbar.
On the September 22, for the celebration of Georgian Wine Week opening, national celebration, Wine Festival was organized in Telavi. At the festival, Georgian wine producer companies exhibited and sold their production. The guests of the festival had opportunity to taste different types of Georgian wine. Also, production of agricultural cooperatives were exhibited and sold (cheese, honey, dried fruit, tea, fruit).
The activity was accompanied by traditional Georgian polyphonic songs introduced by folklore companies, which made the general solemn feeling.
Wine Festival was attended by minister of Agriculture of Georgia, Levan Davitashvili, governor of Kakheti region, Irakli Qadagishvili, head of Agricultural Committee of Georgian Parliament, Iveri Akhalbedashvili, also, deputies of minister of Agriculture of Georgia, Iuri Nozadze and Davit Galegashvili and representatives of local government.
