Presentation about Georgia was held at the International Wine Tourism Conference
On April 8-9, the Wine Tourism International Conference IWINETC was held in the city of Champagne, France. At the conference Giorgi Samanishvili held the presentation on the issue “Georgia - Homeland of Wine”.
The above referenced conference is considered as the most important event of the year in the field of wine tourism. Last year, Tbilisi hosted the Wine Tourism International Conference and this year, the National Wine Agency was the gold sponsor of the event.
That was noted in 40-minutes presentation presented by the Chairman of the National Wine Agency, that Georgia has eight thousand years of continuous history of wine-making, more than of 500 local grape varieties are described. One of the world\'s best wines is produced in this country.
The two days conference program included reports on wine tourism topics, wine tastings, including Georgian wines, as well as workshops between organizations working on wine tourism. Up to 300 delegates 45 countries took part in this conference. Negotiations and seminars were held within the scope of the conference.
The conference is held annually and it is the only conference which is focused on commercialization of wine tourism products.
The interest international tour operators, journalists, photographs and bloggers towards the conference increases every year, which allows the participating countries to better demonstrate touristic potential and to develop wine tourism in their respective countries.
The above referenced conference is a good way to increase awareness rising towards the country and to develop touristic potential. Within the scope of the event, finding of new partnerships and establishment of contacts are carried out between the tourism agencies, companies and international organizations of different countries.
