The Japanese master of wine Kenichi Ohashi has visited Georgia, accompanied by a group of importers, sommeliers and journalists. Among the guests is Hiroshi Yishida, Vice-President of the Japanese Sommelier Association.
Within the tour, organized by the National Wine Agency, guests will visit more than 20 wine factories and family cellars in Imereti, Kartli and Kakheti. The program also included so called Speed Tasting, which was held in Tbilisi, within which up to 30 Georgian wine companies have been given the opportunity to deliver their products to Japanese guests.
Kenichi Ohashi is the only master of wine in Japan, who is also the head of the National Wine Agency contractor marketing company "Red Bridge”.
According to Kenichi Ohashi, the visit to Georgia aims at finding new importers of Georgian wine and increasing the import of Georgian wine in Japan.
"For the last two years, journalists have provided our market with information about Georgian wine. Japan has the largest number of sommeliers in the world. Currently we are with Vice President of the Japanese Sommelier Association, the first Sommelier of Japan and the third in the world. After returning to Japan, he will write about Georgian wine. Here are two influential journalists. After this tour, they will write about their experiences in Georgia. I am confident that this event will be influential for Japanese market customers, "said Kenichi Ohashi.
The guests will leave Georgia on November 12. Japan is one of the strategic markets of Georgian wine, where about 200 thousand bottles of wine have been exported according to the  the data of 10 months of the current year, which is 50% higher than the same period last year.
