Wine Festival was held in Marneuli
In Marneuli, which is an archaeological heritage of Georgian vine and wine, 'Georgian Wine Festival' was celebrated. The event was organized by local municipality and supported by the National Wine Agency. Representatives of the local government welcomed the guests. The festival was attended by deputy head of the National Wine Agency Andro Aslanishvili, who addressed the participants of the festival.
“The National Wine Agency has launched a multidisciplinary research project of Georgian wine history and culture in 2014, according to which a scientific report was published in 201. The research proved that first wine was made in this region of Georgia, which has brought great popularity to Georgian wine worldwide. Today's event is well represented within 'The Georgian Wine Days -2012', and especially in the background of the successful vintage of the current fall and the record number of grapes recycled, "Andro Aslanishvili said.
He thanked the Marneuli Municipality leadership for organizing the Wine Festival and supporting the scientific project of Georgian wine history and culture research.
During the festival, the grapes were made in the winepress, the guests were excited about the Qvevri and tasted wine made in it.
The competition was held in Georgian traditional wrestling, also, exhibition and sale of Georgian wine, honey, cheese and other products was held.
The exhibition-presentation of archaeological materials exhibited in the Marneuli area was arranged by the Georgian National Museum within the scope of the event.
Competition was held between the winemakers where the invited sommeliers were awarded and the symbolic gift was given to the winner. "Georgian Wine Day" was first celebrated in 2014. In 2016 it was decided that the "Georgian Wines Day" would be turned into a week event, and in 2018 the Georgian wine days are celebrated in larger scales: with the organization of the National Wine Agency, from October 5 to 21 “Gvinobistve 2018 " is celebrated in Tbilisi and Georgian regions with different events.
