Wine festival “Telavino 2018” was held in the Kakheti region
Within the Georgian wine days “Gvinobistve 2018”, there was wine festival “Telavino 2018” held in Telavi. Up to 100 different sorts of wine, Chacha and brandy produced by several small and large wine producers were presented in special pavilions in the center of Telavi. This festival was established by the”Kakheti Wine Guild” in 2014, which is traditionally held by the end of vintage.
Together with the local government members, the head of the National Wine Agency Levan Mukhuzla was participating in the opening ceremony as well. According to him, the desired goal of the Georgian wine days is to represent Georgia as a cradle of wine and facilitate the popularization of Georgian wine in general as well.
“Today is a real celebration, viticulturists and wine producers are celebrating this wine festival together. It is essential to note that, this year’s festival is occurring simultaneously with the vintage in the Kakheti region: more than 200 thousand tones of grapes have been reproduced and viticulturists revenues have reached up to 300 million GEL, which is the record indicator for the last 30 years. It is the fifth time that festival “Telavino” is celebrated and it is worth of noting that the amount of participants, as well as local and foreigner guests, is growing on the yearly basis” – noted Levan Mukhuzla.
Festival “Telavino 2018” likewise previous years, was held with the support of the National Wine Agency. “Georgian wine day” was celebrated in 2014 for the first time. Considering the grown interests of the local population and tourists as well the decision was made in 2016 that, “Georgian wine day” will be transformed into the weekly events. Moreover, 2018 Georgian wine days will be celebrated in much larger scales. With the support of the National Wine Agency, Georgian wine days “Gvinobistve 2018” will be celebrated with different events in Tbilisi and in the regions of Georgia from 5 to 21 in October.
