The American master of wine: Georgian wine is special and unique
The master of wine, Liza Granik, together with American sommeliers was visiting Georgia and familiarizing with the Georgian wine in Kartli and Kakheti regions. Liza Granik is the head of the American company “Tastingwork” which is a contractor company of the National Wine Agency of Georgia. Within the tour, American guests will visit more than 20 factories of the wine producing companies.
One of the days of the wine tour was dedicated to Kartli region, which is one of the most distinguished regions of Georgia regarding the winemaking. It is prominent to underline Bolnisi municipality in this region, where we have 25 small wine factories producing the Qvevri wine. With the support of the National Wine Agency the wine from Bolnisi was presented in numerous exhibition and tasting within the country and all over the world as well. In Bolnisi multiple local wine producers were presented to our guests.
Master of wine and sommeliers were impressed by the quality of the local wines.
According to Lisa Granik, within the represented winse from Bolnisi region, Rqawiteli and Tavkveri are the most remarkable.
“These wine sorts possess such kind of feature, which makes them special and unique. Rkatsiteli has an individualism, which is characteristic for every wine variety from Bolnisi as well. It was really exciting for me to taste these wines. Tavkveri is well balanced, it contains elegant tannins and the individualism of this place. This is exactly what we are looking for: wine sorts that have individualism and uniqueness” – noted Liza Graanik.
According to her, there are influential sommeliers within the group from the USA, who are dealing with prestigious restaurants of the New Yours City. According to the winemakers from Bolnisi, the visit of wine professionals will facilitate the popularization of their wines on the international market.
