The cadastre program will be launched in Kvareli municipality
The National Wine Agency and the Association "Georgian Wine" organized an informational meeting with winemakers and representatives of wine companies on cadastral works of Georgian vineyards. In particular, the cadastral pilot program will be launched in Kvareli municipality in the process of vintage of the current year.
First, large-scale vineyard subjects will be involved (≥7.0 ha) in Kvareli municipality located in Kindzmarauli and Kvareli micro-zones. For the first stage of the pilot project, 67 subjects were selected on the above mentioned grounds, which comprise about 2200 ha of vineyards in the region.
The leadership of the National Wine Agency introduced the terms of the use of cadastral data during the grape harvesting process to the participants of the meeting. The vineyards cadastre group of the agency presented the principles of the construction of vineyards cadastre of Georgia, ways of realization, works carried out in Racha-Lechkhumi and Kakheti as well as ongoing works in Gurjaani municipality.
The participants of the meeting were given cadastral extensions of their vineyards for monitoring.
The National Wine Agency has started implementing the vineyard cadastre program in 2014. Within the framework of the cadastral program, the concept of construction and functioning of Georgian vineyards cadastre has been elaborated. The cadastral documents were developed, electronic database was selected, where cadastral information will be collected; In Racha-Lechkhumi region 886.9 ha, 5533,4 ha in Kvareli municipality, 5477,9 ha in Telavi municipality and 1818,2 ha vineyard in Akhmeta municipality were registered.
There was no similar system in Georgia before. The cadastre system works effectively in all EU countries where viticulture and winemaking is developed. The existence of cadastral base is necessary for the regulation of vineyards, decision making in viticulture and winemaking, to properly verify the vintage process, to conduct wine production and its movement and for general regulation of viticulture and winemaking.
