Georgian Wine Export Has Grown by 21% within The 6 Months of 2018
According to the LEPL National Wine Agency, in the first half of 2018, 38,2 mil. bottles (0,75l) of wine have been exported to 48 countries worldwide, that is 21% higher than the similar data of 2017. Totally, 90,3 mil. USD worth of wine have been exported, that is 28% higher than the data of the previous year.
The tendency of recent years of exports of wine and alcoholic beverages is also maintained according to the data of the first half of the current year, which is the result of the correct state policy pursued in the wine industry and the coordinated activities of the relevant governmental structures and private sector. Georgian wine exports have been increased in Georgian wine strategic markets both in Europe and Asia, as well as in US and other traditional markets.
According to the data of January-June 2018, export growth is remarkable in the following countries: Japan 200% (130 638), Czech - 134% (30456), Kyrgyzstan - 81% (140370), South Korea - 78% (31650), Netherlands - 68% (38799), UK - 67% (46782), Germany - 43% (286054), Ukraine – 41% (4191217), Kazakhstan - 42% (1652292), Latvia - 32% (905982), Poland -30% (1573328), Russia - 24% (24022113), Estonia – 22% (294900), Lietuva - 9% (188052), USA - 7% (188762) and etc.
The first five of the exporter countries is the following: Russia – (24 022 113), Ukraine - (4 191 217), China – (2 975 804), Kazakhstan – (1 652 292) and Poland – (1 573 328).
In the period under review, 190 companies have exported various amount of wine.
In addition, in January-June, 8,4 mil. bottles (0,5 liters) of brandy have been exported to 20 countries worldwide, that is 23% higher than the similar data of the last year. Exported brandy amounted 17 mil. USD, growth amounted 6%.
In the period under review, 178 thousand bottles (0.5 l) of “Chacha” have been exported to 20 countries worldwide, growth amounted 100%. Totally, 530 thousand USD worth of Chacha has been exported, which is 116% higher than the similar data of the last year.
Totally, wine, bandy, “Chacha”, brandy alcohol and brandy in pour income amounted 148,3 mil. USD – growth in comparison with the similar data of the previous year amounted 21%.
