Presentation of Georgian Wine in Japan
Georgian wine tasting-seminar was held in Utsunomiya (Tochigi Prefecture), Japan, which was led by the head of the National Wine Agency contractor marketing company Red Bridge, master of wine - Kenichi Ohashi and Japanese top-sommelier Motoiko Okoshi. The event was attended by about 50 guests: distributors, representatives of restaurants and market chains.
Wines of the following 6 Georgian wine producing companies were presented at the seminar: "Chateau Mukhrani" - Rkatsiteli, "Teleta / Orgo" - Rkatsiteli, "Shumi /Iberian Line" – Green, "Shalauri" - Green "," Shalauri "- Saperavi" and "Shumi / Line Iberia "- Mukuzani. After the seminar, the guests were able to taste more than 20 kinds of Georgian wine.
It is noteworthy that Kenichi Ohashi starts his every master speech with the first Georgian Ozeki, a successful sumoist Tochinoshini (Levan Gorgodze), which increases the awareness of Georgia and Georgian wine in Japan.
At the end of the event, Motoishi Okoshi stated, that Japanese customers have the opportunity to taste unique Georgian wines that differ from the wines of every other country with the character, diversity and unique Georgian methods of winemaking. Japanese sommelier believes that Georgian wines are well suited to different types of specific foods. Georgian brandy and red semi-sweet wines made a special impression on the guests of the tasting.
According to Kenichi Ohashi, 14 of the guests have already expressed their readiness to add Georgian wine to their own sales list.
Japan is one of the strategic markets of Georgian wine, where over 98 thousand bottles of wine have been exported according to the data of 5 months of the current year, which is 186% higher than the similar data of the last year.
