Georgian Wine Export Has Grown by 27% within The 5 Months of 2018

According to the LEPL National Wine Agency, in January – May 2018, 31,5 mil. bottles (0,75l)  of wine have been exported to 46 countries worldwide, that is 27% higher than the similar data of 2017. Totally,  75,3 mil. USD worth of wine have been exported, that is 36% higher than the data of the previous year.

Export growth is remarkable on European, USA, Asian and traditional markets: Japan 186% (97668), UK - 109% (45210), Czech - 87% (24408), Kazakhstan -  84% (1108938),  South Korea -76% (31380),  Germany - 51% (252982), Netherlands -  45% (33399),  Russia -  38% (20439494),  Ukraine –  33% (3149059),  Poland  - 33% (1300222), Kazakhstan - 32% (1379698), Lithuania - 22% (172020), Latvia - 22% (670260), Estonia – 16% (216762), Belarus - 11% (461952)   and etc.

The first five of the exporter countries is the following: Russia – (20439494), Ukraine -  (3149059), China – (2331800), Kazakhstan –   (1379698)   and  Poland –  (1300222).

In the period under review, 172 companies have exported various amount of wine.

In addition, in January-May, 6,7 mil. bottles (0,5 liters) of brandy have been exported to 20 countries worldwide, that is 82% higher than the similar data of the last year. Exported brandy amounted 13,8 mil. USD (growth 3%).

In the period under review, 134 thousand bottles (0.5 l) of  “Chacha”  have been exported to 20 countries worldwide, growth amounted  82%. Totally,  418,3 thousand USD worth of Chacha has been exported (growth 104%).

From the appellation range, the best seller exported  wines are “Kindzmarauli” 5,7 mil. Bottles, followed by “Mukuzani” - 1,7 mil. “Tsinandali” - 1,4 mil; “Akhasheni” - 638 thousand; „Khvanchlara” – 252 thousand , “Tvishi” - 140 thousand; “Kvareli” - 58 thousand and  etc.

Totally, wine, band, “Chacha”, wine material, brand in pour and brand alcohol income amounted  123,7 mil. USD – growth in comparison with the similar data of the previous year amounted 22%.
