Georgian wine companies participate in , FOODEX JAPAN 2018 The 43rd International Food and Beverage Exhibition, which will be held on March 6-9 in Tokyo, the capital of Japan.
With the support of the National Wine Agency and the Embassy of Georgia in Japan, the following ten Georgian wine companies were represented at the above-mentioned exhibition: “Vaziani Company”, “Maranuli”, “Dugladze Wines and Spirits”, “Chateau Nekresi”, LTD “Kindzmarauli”, “Sarajishvili”, LTD “Alaverdi”, “Qimerioni”, “Mosmieri” and “Chelti”.
The official opening of the exhibition was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Japan, Levan Tsinadze.
During the exhibition, seminar-presentation of Georgian wine was held, which was lead by Marketing and PR department of the National Wine Agency, Irakli Cholobargia. The seminar was attended by wine journalists, wine importers, experts and representatives of restaurants and market chains including the president of the Japanese Sommelier Association, Satoru Mori.
Presentation “Georgia – the Cradle of Wine” included a short review of the 8 thousand year development  of Georgian wine history and culture.
According to Irakli Cholobargia, Japanese experts of wine have great interest towards Georgian wine styles, especially Qvevri wine.
"Japanese customers and wine professionals have been paying great attention to Georgian wine for the last few years, which has been reflected in the exports. The marketing activities of the National Wine Agency in this country include participation in tastings and exhibitions as well as planning visits of  Japanese experts in Georgia to give them opportunity to get acquainted with Georgian wine and its culture, "said Irakli Cholobargia.
In January-February of the current year, export growth in Japan increased by 213% (44 292 bottles) compared with the same period of the last year.
„FOODEX JAPAN”  is held since 1976 and is considered as one of the most large-scale exhibitions in Asia. This year, 8 thousand gusts are expected to visit the exhibition.

Georgian Wine
