Georgian Wines Won Gold Medals At The International Competition In Poland

Georgian wine-maker company “Shilda Winery” wines “Kisi” (dry white) and “Mukuzani 2015” (dry red) won Gold Medals  at the international wine competition “GALICJA VITIS 2017” held in Krakow, Poland.

The competition is held under the auspices of international wine organization OIV. This was the first year Georgia was represented in the jury of the competition, where Deputy Head of Marketing and PR Department of National Wine Agency Tamta Kvelaidze was invited. As she stated, “GALICJA VITIS” competition is considered as one of the prestigious and great event in Poland.

“With National Wine Agency support, Georgian wine-maker companies had the opportunity to participate in this prestigious competition. These Golden Medals are very important for the growth of Georgian wine publicity in Poland, which has steadily established in the five of Georgian wine exporter countries. It should be noted, that new category was added to the competition this year: Qvevri wine, that is another step forward popularization and export growth  of Georgian wine in Poland”- stated Tamta Kvelaidze.

The jury was represented by 25 professionals from 6 countries who estimated 434 wines from around the world.

Organizer of the competition is viticulture and winemaking development fund GALICJA VITIS . In 2016, National Wine Agency and GALICJA VITIS signed memorandum of cooperation, on the bases of which Georgian wine culture and history is taught in the wine academy school in Jaslo, Poland.
