To the attention of wine producers!

We would like to inform you about the certification of the local market.

- Since January 1, 2023, grape-based alcoholic beverages produced in Georgia and intended for the domestic consumer market have been required to undergo mandatory certification. Likewise, non-grape alcoholic beverages have been subject to mandatory certification since June 1, 2023.
- According to current legislation, prior to January 1, 2023, it was mandatory to certify wines with Protected Designations of Origin (PDO). For other categories of wine, entrepreneurs were required to submit a declaration of conformity. This declaration was filled out by the company based on the laboratory test protocol.  During the regulatory monitoring process, it will be mandatory to have a valid certificate on products entering the local market from January 1, 2023 at sales points and the entry of products prior to 2023 must be verified through the corresponding bill of lading and the bottling date.
- It is not obligatory to retain copies of certificates for certified products that are placed for sale on the consumer market of Georgia. In the sales facility, the supervisor verifies the certification status of the product in the agency's electronic certification database.
- The current electronic database is inaccessible to individuals who wish to ascertain the lot designation of the product.  The aforementioned information can only be verified by the relevant authorized personnel of the agency.
- We would like to clarify that the certificate is valid for a period of 18 months from the date of issuance. The aforementioned term remains applicable until the products are placed in the sales facility.
